What’s the strangest piece of trash you’ve ever found on the beach? Whether it was as small as a bottle cap or as random as a Pez dispenser, we’ve all stumbled upon this plastic garbage — and probably overlooked it.

The Anchorage Museum is shedding light on marine plastics through a 7,500-square-foot exhibition titled “Gyre: The Plastic Ocean.” It’s intended to bridge the gap between science and art, man and the ocean — and put this epidemic into perspective.
