This winter, the continental U.S. has experienced such long periods of cold weather that some have started to wonder whether scientists have somehow gotten the signs wrong, and instead of global warming we are experiencing a mini ice age. This, of course, is not really the case; Europe and the Middle East have actually witnessed a warmer than usual winter.
