XL Dissent: Why Nearly 400 Students Were Willingly Arrested

Tulane University senior Nick Stracco was one of nearly 400 students to be arrested last week outside of the White House, and he was happy to do so.

Some-1,000 students gathered outside 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in Washington, D.C. as part of XL Dissent, a large scale protest against the Keystone Pipeline.

“I personally did want to get arrested and the reason that we felt compelled to organize this action as youth is that we’re the youngest members of the voting population and we are going to inherit the climate crisis,” Stracco explained during a HuffPost …read more
